What We Do
The Center’s activities consist of brief workshops and resource materials that provide practical guidance to professionals and parents. Workshop topics include: characteristics of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), effective strategies for addressing challenging behaviors, developing and fostering social and pragmatic communication skills, school and community integration, and other similar topics. Workshops are provided at various locations throughout WNY. This website also provides helpful fact sheets and links to other important and helpful websites.
Who We Serve
The WNY Regional Center for ASD provides support to families and professionals in seven counties (Niagara, Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, Genesee and Orleans) including the 97 school districts in the region. The project primarily addresses the needs of children and young adults with ASD who are between the ages of 4 to 21 years old.
Summit’s on-line training library features FREE trainings for professionals and parents.
Currently, you can view a 3-hour training, “Inclusive Programming for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders” by David Meichenbaum, Ph.D., Summit’s Director of Community Consulting & Clinical Services.
